Benefits of Water Softeners

Water Hardness is a common and prominent issues faced by most of the families nowadays. The problem is even more persistent the commercial and rural areas. Hard water is a usual problem that is also a great contributor to water contamination, especially threatening the water supply to home.  However, hard water tends to do a lot more damage that you can ever think of. Some of the common ones include the discoloration of clothes, clothes and hairs getting hard and dingy. It also can affect your skin since it is also exposed to hard water on regular basis.

On the top of it, hard water also affects the condition of the regular appliance such as water heaters, dishwasher, washing machines and other equipment. One of the primary reasons behind the increased hardness of water is the presence of high mineral content in it and with plenty of minerals, there are also plenty of residues that get clogged into the water pipes of sink, bathtub, shower or whatever that gets touched by water frequently. Apart from clogging in your water pipes and appliances, they weaken and dirty up the pipe fitting which shortens the life span of these appliances.

Water Softeners: What they are and how they deal with Hard Water?

Water softeners are useful home appliances that work effectively by replacing the Magnesium and Calcium ions in the regular water supply with the sodium ions, thus making it soft and less harsh on clothes and hairs.

Types of Softeners:

  1. Manual Softener:

A manual water softener requires you to control and monitor the recharge process using the manual valves. This sort of softeners give you control over the recharge settings such as the length of time and frequency.

  1. Automatic softeners

This type of water softener is said to be the most popular choice in the market. Automatic softeners are those that have the capability to automatically regenerate on the given time. These are equipped with timer that will determine the rime for regeneration process. This is an easier to use device as all you have to do is to set the timer and add salt whenever needed.

  1. Semi-automatic softeners

Semi automatic softeners lie in between the automatic and manual softeners. They don’t give you control over the setting of the recharge process but you need to decide when you have to start the recharge cycle by pushing the button.

  1. Demand-initiated regeneration

These regenerator softeners are those that get regenerated whenever the device thinks that it is ready, or the time has arrived, based upon the amount of water consumed and the left. This is made possible by two different water softening tanks: one for the softened water, and the other for the recharge cycle.

You can now easily beat the ill effect of hard water simply by using small sized water softening equipment.
